Final Exam Time!

Students had the option of completing the study guide over a two week period for 3% bonus points.  Approximately half of the students completed the guide.

Exams went well today, and scores for exams and final semester grades are posted for periods 3 and 5. 

All research papers that were properly submitted during class on June 5th have been returned to period 3 and 5.  Period 4 will receive theirs on Wednesday.  Late research papers will be returned on Thursday!

June 15th: Monday

1.  Collect text books.  Have it hear by day’s end without penalty, but you are receiving a score for prompt turn in!

2.  Quick quiz over Charlotte Doyle chapters 18 and 19.

3.  Read chapters 20 and 21 of Charlotte Doyle and take notes.

Homework: Late text books?  Late research papers?

Bring Final Exam study guide for submission for extra credit on final exam day.  You must submit prior to taking your final!

June 9th: Tuesday

1.   Submit late research papers (-20%).

2.  Charlotte Doyle chapters 11-13.  Take notes.

Homework:

a.  Return Renaissance Day Permission slip!

b.  Bring money tomorrow ($20, $30, $40) for costume rental if interested!

c.  Finish extra credit review guide for final (optional)

June 8th: Monday

1.  Submit rough draft pack and final draft pack of your research paper!  You did it!  No homework for the rest of our time! 

2.  Receive Renaissance Day permission slip and discuss our special upcoming day!

3.  Finish Charlotte Doyle chapters 9, 10, and 11. Take notes.

Homework: none!

Final Exam Review Guide: Posted Again

This guide was posted on the blog on May 29th, but a copy was distributed in class on June 4th and 5th.  Students are encouraged to review and practice on their own for homework next week.  No other homework (hopefully) will be assigned! Completion of the review guide is optional.  Those who turn it in on final exam day can earn up to an additional 3% on their final exam grade!

June 4th and 5th: block days

1.  Learn how to use PARENTHETICAL CITATION for your quote and facts that are not common knowledge.  See your How to Write a Great Research Packet (with ladder on front) for directions.

2.  Copy and paste My Access Revisions to a new document titled “First and Last name Research Paper Final Draft”.

3.  Ensure this final draft is in MLA format with pagination, double space, proper heading. 

4.  Copy and paste revised outline to this final draft next. Then, copy and paste the revised bibliography.  Follow MLA format rules for each (reviewed again in class). 

5.  Save “Research Paper Final Draft” (paper, outline, bibliography) in your digital locker.

6.  Print your final draft paper and staple together in order of paper, outline, and bibliography.

7.  Staple your rough draft paper, outline, and bibliography together in a separate pack.

8.  Early birds: turn in both drafts today for bonus points. 

9.  Read Charlotte Doyle Chapter 9 and take notes.

Homework: Be ready to hand in both Research Paper rough and final stapled packs before entering the classroom on Monday.  I’ve given you an EXTRA weekend to further revise and finish, so NO EXCUSES on Monday.  Do not wait until last minute!  Printer problems?  You will need to get to school early on Monday or use the library at break!

June 3rd: Wednesday

  1. Review research paper components for conclusion.
  2. Type conclusion.
  3. Upload rough draft to digital lockers and My Access. 
  4. Use My Access My Editor and correct errors.

Homework: Resubmit to My Editor after correcting errors.  Then, copy and paste into digital lockers and save as “Research Paper Final Draft”.  Have a parent/guardian/adult read  your paper and sign it. We will type revisions and revise outlines and bibliographies.

June 2nd: Tuesday

  1. Review guidelines for introduction and body part one of research paper.
  2. Draft and type body part two (particular topic 3-5 paragraphs).
  3. Charlotte Doyle chapter 8: listen and take notes

Homework: Finish drafting intro and body of research paper.  We will write conclusions and proofread on Wednesday!

June 1st: Monday

1.  Attach rubric to bibliography.  Collect. works cited rubric

2.  Review outline format and receive back.  Revise for final research paper turn in.

3.  Listen to Charlotte Doyle chapter 7 and take notes.

4.  Begin typing parts 1 (intro)  and 2 (body: life during the times) of Research paper.  Type in MLA format and upload to digital locker. 7th Middle Ages to Renaissance Research Paper[1]

Homework: Finish intro and body 1 paragraphs tonight!  Upload to digital locker.

May 28th and 29th: Block Days

  1. Review Outline Rules: How to Write a Great Rearch Paper Packet
  2. Learn how to format a bibliography.  Bibliography Handouts

  4. Receive MLA Bibliography Sheet for different types of sources:  MLA Bibliography Sourcing Page
  5. Type Bibliography: print at home over weekend

Homework: Print bibliography over weekend.  Be ready to write rough draft of research paper from outline and notes on Monday.  We will write on Monday and Tuesday, type on Wednesday, and submit no later than Monday.
